Physical Therapy and Coronavirus Lunch-and-Learn Will Take Place in Ashdown at UA Cossatot

On Thursday, April 2, 2020, the Little River Wellness Coalition, Kindred at Home, Little River Memorial Hospital and UA Cossatot will be co-hosting a dual topic lunch-and-learn featuring “The Importance of Physical Therapy in the Home Setting” and a “Cornoavirus Q&A” at UA Cossatot’s Ashdown Campus. The presentation will be held in room 230 from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon.

Sam Condemo will be bringing the presentation about physical therapy. Sam is employed as a physical therapist with Kindred at Home and also has his Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Central Arkansas.

Mr. Condemo will be speaking about how it is essential to stay active throughout one’s life. As a person ages, their ability to exercise safely and effectively can diminish. Therefore, it is important to implement physical therapy in a home setting.

He plans to teach those at the lunch-and-learn that physical therapy activities can help individuals be more independent for a longer period of time.

Sarah Vanhoose is the Infection Control Nurse at Little River Memorial Hospital. She will also speak at the lunch-and-learn about the recent COVID-19 outbreak and answer any questions concerning the virus.

COVID-19 is a type of Coronavirus that was discovered in late 2019. As of March 2020, this Coronavirus has been confirmed in eighty-nine countries around the world, with six countries reporting suspected cases.

At the lunch-and-learn, Sarah will be discussing the seriousness of the virus and prevention methods.

All are invited to bring their lunch and enjoy this free presentation. For more on upcoming lunch-and-learn programs, please call UA Cossatot’s Continuing Education department at 870-584-4471.
