Arkansas Governor Sander's Proclamation on Arkansas Beef Month

WHEREAS:  Agriculture is Arkansas’ largest industry and contributes over $19 billion to our state’s economy each year; 
 
WHEREAS:  Arkansas has cattle production in each of Arkansas’ 75 counties; 
 
WHEREAS:  Arkansas has 866,000 head of beef cows and 1,630,000 head of cattle and calves; 
 
WHEREAS:  Arkansas has 23,036 farms with beef cows and 25,372 farms with cattle and calves; 
 
WHEREAS:  Arkansas ranks 11th in the nation in beef cow inventory and 17th in the nation in cattle and calves inventory; 
 
WHEREAS:  Cattle and calves consistently rank among Arkansas’ top eight agricultural commodities in cash receipts, valued at more than $524 million; 
 
WHEREAS:  Arkansas exports beef and beef products totaling more than $76 million dollars to trading partners around the world; and
 
WHEREAS: Beef is a good source of high-quality protein and other essential nutrients including iron and zinc.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, I, SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS, Governor of the State of Arkansas, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the laws of the State of Arkansas, do hereby proclaim May 2023 as
 

“ARKANSAS BEEF MONTH”

 
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Arkansas to be affixed this 27th day of April, in the year of our Lord 2023.

Proclamation on Career and Technical Education Month in Arkansas

WHEREAS: Career and technical education (CTE) offers students the opportunity to gain the academic, technical, and employability skills necessary for true career readiness; 
 
WHEREAS: Students in career and technical education programs participate in authentic, meaningful experiences that improve the quality of their education and increase student engagement and achievement;  
 
WHEREAS: Career and technical education provides students with career exploration opportunities earlier in their educational experience, which enables them to make informed and beneficial decisions about their academic coursework as well as the pursuit of established programs of study and career pathways; 
 
WHEREAS: Leaders from business and industry nationwide report increasing challenges related to addressing the skills gap and connecting qualified professionals with available careers in critical and growing CTE-related fields, including healthcare, energy, advanced manufacturing, and information technology; 
 
WHEREAS: Career and technical education prepares students for these and other fulfilling careers by offering integrated programs of study that link secondary and postsecondary education and lead to the attainment of industry-recognized credentials; 
 
WHEREAS: Ensuring that employers have access to a qualified workforce is a crucial step in ensuring productivity among the business and industry communities as well as continued American economic growth and global competitiveness; and
 
WHEREAS:  A core pillar of my education reform plan – Arkansas LEARNS – is readiness, placing a stronger emphasis on policies that prepare our kids for the workforce, not a lifetime of government dependency;
 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS, Governor of the State of Arkansas, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the laws of the State of Arkansas, do hereby proclaim February 2023, as 

“CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION MONTH IN ARKANSAS”

And I urge all citizens to join voluntarily me in recognizing these healthcare professionals for their contribution in adding to the quality of life in our country

Proclamation on Arkansas Parental Choice Week

WHEREAS:  All children in Arkansas should have access to the highest-quality education possible;

WHEREAS:  Arkansas recognizes the important role that an effective education plays in preparing all students in this state to be successful adults and not trapped in a lifetime of poverty;

WHEREAS:  Quality education is critically important to the economic vitality of Arkansas;

WHEREAS:  Arkansas is home to a multitude of high-quality public and nonpublic schools from which parents can choose for their children, in addition to families who educate their children in the home; 

WHEREAS:  Educational variety not only helps to diversify our economy, but also enhances the vibrancy of our community;

WHEREAS:  Arkansas has many high-quality teaching professionals in all types of school settings who are committed to educating our children;

WHEREAS:  Education reform will be the hallmark of my administration through the Arkansas LEARNS initiative, which prioritizes Literacy, Empowerment, Accountability, Readiness, Networking, and School Safety;

WHEREAS:  In this state, parents can no longer be an afterthought in education because they are the foundation to a child’s success;

WHEREAS:  Parents should have the right to choose the schools that’s best for their child—whether it is public, private, parochial, or homeschool;

WHEREAS:  School Choice Week, which should be called “Parental Choice Week,” is celebrated across the country by millions of students, parents, educators, schools, and organizations to raise awareness of the need for effective educational options; 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS, acting under the authority vested in me as the Governor of the State of Arkansas, do hereby recognize January 22 through January 28, 2023, as “Arkansas Parental Choice Week,” and I call this observance to the attention of all of our citizens.

Proclamation on A Day of Tears in Arkansas

WHEREAS:  On January 22, 1973, the majority of the United States Supreme Court ruled that abortion was a right secured by the United States Constitution; 

WHEREAS:  That decision nullified abortion laws in Arkansas, permitting elective abortion across the state;

WHEREAS:  The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision stood for nearly fifty years before being reversed in 2022;

WHEREAS:  Since January 22, 1973, over two hundred thirty-seven thousand (237,000) unborn children have perished in Arkansas because of abortion; 

WHEREAS:  The ninety-third General Assembly passed H.C.R. 1007 recognizing January 22, in perpetuity, as the “Day of Tears” in Arkansas and encouraging the citizens of Arkansas to mourn the innocent unborn children who have lost their lives to abortion; 

WHEREAS:  On January 22, 2023, hundreds of Arkansans will take part in the annual March for Life to recommit to protecting the most vulnerable among us and to celebrating the dignity of every human life;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS, acting under the authority vested in me as the Governor of the State of Arkansas, do hereby proclaim January 22, 2023, as: 

“A DAY OF TEARS IN ARKANSAS” and I urge all citizens to join voluntarily in solemn remembrance of the innocent unborn children who have lost their lives to abortion.
