De Queen Middle School Student Council Raises Money for Shop with a Cop

The De Queen Middle School Student Council recently sold t-shirts for their community service project. The students raised $599 and donated the funds to the local Shop with a Cop program. The local Shop with a Cop program is held each year during the holiday season by the De Queen Police Department and the Sevier County Sheriff's Department.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the year 2020 has been a trying year for just about everyone including the Shop with a Cop program. Donations have been minimal, and the funds donated by the DMS Student Council were a welcome gift. If you would like to donate to Shop with a Cop, please contact Beth Hughes with the De Queen Police Department at 870-642-2210 or Chad Dowdle with the Sevier County Sheriff’s Department at 870-642-2125.

Tyson Donation Gives DJHS and DMS Students Comfortable Seating

De Queen Public Schools would like to thank Tyson Foods Inc. for their generous donation of $5,000. The grant money was used to help purchase new picnic tables and benches for the outdoor seating areas at the middle school and junior high. The picnic tables are located underneath the newly constructed pavilion that students use during lunch and the benches are located underneath the awning at the bus unloading zone.

Graduation Date Change For De Queen High School

Due to work conflicts with many family members of the Class of 2020, the De Queen High School graduation ceremony has been moved from Friday, July 31st to Saturday, August 1st. We will still have 3 ceremonies during the day in the arena. We will have a ceremony at 11:00 AM, 3:00 PM, and 7:00 PM. The high school will be in contact with parents and students shortly. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope that the change in schedule will help resolve those conflicts.
