Brentley Morris, a senior at De Queen High, was awarded Lions Club Student of the Month at the noon meeting Tuesday in De Queen. Brentley is a member of the FFA and has been a member of the Forestry Judging Team. In sports, Brentley played baseball and basketball for the Leopards and was awarded 6th Man of the Year for the basketball team. Brentley will be an honor graduate from De Queen High on May 17th.
Perla Zapata - De Queen Lions Club Student of the Month
Perla Zapata, a senior at De Queen High, was awarded De Queen Lions Club Student of the Month in Tuesday’s noon meeting. Perla is a member of the National Honor Society, the FCCLA, Gifted & Talented, Spanish Club, Young Voters, Tennis Team, Basketball Team, and Soccer Team. Perla attended the FCCLA National Conference in Atlanta, GA and received a gold medal for a group project. She was a senior maid at De Queen Homecoming this year and was voted Miss Congeniality and People’s Choice at the De Queen High School Pageant. She is president of the Student Council and will be an honor graduate this year at De Queen High. Perla plans to attend UCA and has been accepted in the University Scholars Program.
'Students of the Month' Honored at De Queen Lions Club Tuesday
Lions Club ‘Students of the Month’ were honored at Tuesday's noon meeting. February's De Queen High School ‘Student of the Month’ was Janet Balderas and March's ‘Student of the Month’ was Gunner Bradshaw.
Janet Balderas is a senior at DQHS. She is a lifelong resident of De Queen and a member of the National Honor Society, FCCLA, FTA, and Interact Club. Janet also is a student worker for high school counselors and De Queen Elementary speech pathologists.
Gunner Bradshaw is a senior at De Queen High and a member of the National Honor Society and Quiz Bowl Team. Gunner plays several musical instruments including: guitar, bass, and French horn. He works at one of the local businesses. Both parents of Gunner teach at De Queen Schools.
Halle Harp, De Queen Lions Club Student of the Month for December
Halle Harp was recognized as Student of the Month for December at Tuesday’s Lions Club meeting. Halle is a senior at De Queen High and is a member of the National Honor Society and cross country and track teams. She is in the Gifted and Talented Program and is student council reporter. Halle was the 2020 Homecoming Queen at De Queen High. She is a DHS Cheerleader, 2-time All American Cheerleader and is cheer captain. She was selected twice to cheer in Orlando, FL at Varsity Spirit Spectacular.
Allen Hong, De Queen Lions Club Student of the Month for January
Allen Hong was recognized for Student of the Month for January at Tuesday’s meeting of the De Queen Lions Club. Allen, a senior at De Queen High School, is an office worker and is a member of the Leopard football, cross country, tennis, basketball, track and soccer teams.
Carlee Helms Honored as De Queen Lions Club Student of the Month
Carlee Helms, senior of De Queen High, was recognized as Student of the Month at Tuesday’s meeting of the De Queen Lions Club. Carlee is a member of the National Honor Society and Gifted and Talented. She has been a cheerleader for De Queen High for 3 years, and All American Cheerleader for 2 years. Carlee is a member of the Lady Leopard Softball Team and has recently been selected as a senior maid for De Queen Homecoming. Megan Blanton presented Carlee with a framed certificate.
De Queen Lions members collected candy for the upcoming Trunk or Treat at the De Queen Sportsplex. Megan Blanton, on behalf of the Lions Club, is pictured with Alicia Gonzalez to contribute sweet treats for the kids on Halloween night.
